Facial rejuvenation acupuncture, also called cosmetic or facial acupuncture, is a deeply relaxing treatment that works on your face and your body at the same time. Hair-fine needles encourage circulation to the face, and every session at Key Element in Westminster finishes with gentle facial cupping and gua sha.
What is facial rejuvenation acupuncture?
Very fine needles are placed in the face and the body. The facial points aim to increase local blood circulation, stimulate collagen production, lymphatic drainage, and improve tone and firmness in the face, jaw, and neck. The body points address what is going on underneath. Sessions finish with facial cupping and gua sha which is very relaxing.
Your face shows what is happening inside
If you are stressed or sleeping badly, it turns up on your face eventually. That is why the body is treated alongside the face here rather than the face being treated in isolation, and it is the main thing separating this from a facial at a spa.
In practice it means the intake covers sleep, digestion and stress before anyone talks about fine lines.

What does facial acupuncture do for your skin?
The aim is better circulation to the face, improved tone and firmness, and a fresher, more rested appearance. Be aware that the research behind cosmetic acupuncture is thin compared with microneedling, so this is a gentler option chosen as much for how it feels as for what it changes. Autumn will tell you that rather than promise you a result.
Circulation and tone
Needling brings blood flow to the face, which is what gives people the flushed, rested look straight after a session.
Facial cupping and gua sha
Every session ends with gentle facial cupping and jade gua sha, which move fluid, ease tension in the jaw and brow, and feel wonderful.
The rest of you
Body points are part of every treatment, so sleep and stress usually improve alongside anything you notice in the mirror.
Facial acupuncture or microneedling: which is right for me?
Microneedling is the stronger, more targeted treatment and has better evidence behind it, particularly for acne scarring and deeper lines. Facial rejuvenation acupuncture is gentler, treats your whole system rather than just your skin, and is the more restful hour. Plenty of patients alternate between the two.
Choose facial acupuncture if
You want something gentle with no downtime, you are as interested in how you feel as how you look, or stress and sleep are part of the picture.
Choose microneedling if
You are targeting acne scarring, stretch marks, sun damage or deeper lines and want the treatment with the stronger evidence behind it.
Read more about microneedling in Westminster, or call and Autumn will help you work out which suits your skin and your schedule. Because she is a licensed acupuncturist, either can be combined with a body treatment in the same visit.
What is a cosmetic acupuncture session like?
Your first visit begins with a full intake covering sleep, digestion and stress, because those are what show up on your face. Then very fine needles go into the face and the body, and you rest with them. Every session finishes with gentle facial cupping and jade gua sha.
01
The intake
Sleep, digestion, stress and your history, before anyone talks about fine lines. It is how Autumn works out what is showing up on your face and why.
02
Face and body
Very fine needles in the face, and body points chosen for whatever is going on underneath. You rest with them in place. Most people find this the restful part of their week.
03
Cupping and gua sha
Every treatment ends with gentle facial cupping and jade gua sha to move fluid and release the jaw and brow. No downtime, so you can go straight back to your day.
How many facial acupuncture treatments will I need?
A series of 10 treatments is recommended, ideally two per week for five weeks, or one per week for ten weeks if twice weekly is not realistic. The full series matters because it takes the body about a month to begin producing collagen, so stopping early means stopping before the point of it.
After the initial series, most patients come monthly to hold the result. That monthly visit is also when Autumn can pick up anything else that has crept in, which is why a lot of people who started for their skin keep coming for everything else.
How much does facial rejuvenation cost in Westminster, CO?
A single facial rejuvenation treatment is $140. The recommended series of 10 is $1,300, which works out at $130 a session and is how most patients book it.

Facial rejuvenation FAQ
Is cosmetic acupuncture the same as facial rejuvenation?
Yes. Cosmetic acupuncture, facial acupuncture and facial rejuvenation acupuncture all describe the same treatment, and you will see all three used online. It is not the same as microneedling, which uses a different device and is a stronger treatment.
Does facial acupuncture hurt?
The needles used on the face are extremely fine and most people feel very little. Most patients find the treatment deeply relaxing and a good number fall asleep. The facial cupping and gua sha at the end are gentle by design.
Is there any downtime after facial acupuncture?
No. You may look slightly flushed for a short while, which is the increased circulation, and occasionally a small bruise appears where a needle went in. Most people go straight back to their day.
How is facial acupuncture different from microneedling?
Microneedling is stronger and more targeted, with better evidence behind it for acne scarring and deeper lines. Facial acupuncture is gentler, treats the body as well as the face, and is the more restful option. Many patients alternate between the two.
How soon will I see a difference?
Many people notice a fresher, more rested look straight after the first session, though that is largely circulation and it settles. Any lasting change comes from the full series of 10, because the body takes about a month to begin producing collagen.
